Lilian Ngoki Nzeru, a 12-year-old girl’s body was discovered by her mother Pauline Muusi. Police say the body of the minor was hanging on a tree which was located about 100 meters from the homestead. The matter was reported by Karura assistant chief Mwikali Julius Musili.

According to the local police, the deceased had previously refused to go to school without any apparent reason, a matter that made her mother insist she goes to school.

“Today she committed suicide by hanging herself on a tree using a sisal rope. No physical injuries observed”, said the investigating agency.

Later, police visited the scene of crime and took photos of the scene as well as moving the body of the deceased to Mwingi Level Four Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

This incident underlines the need for parents to take a centre role in raising their children so that they can confidently share their problems with them for solutions to be reached.
