A Wiper party politician who unsuccessfully vied for Kitui East MP seat in 2022 has been arrested.
As we went to press, the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court was set to rule on an application by EACC to seek to detain the flamboyant politician Militonic Kimanzi aka Kitute.
Reports indicated that Kitute was arrested at his Kitui Rural home on Saturday by EACC sleuths and was transported to Nairobi under heavy guards.
EACC is asking Magistrate Zipporah Gichana to detain Kitute for 14 days as it completes investigations. The alleged imposter and conman missed election to Parliament by 100 votes.
Before he shifted his allegiance to the Kalonzo party, he was a bossom buddy of Narc party leader and former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu. Ms Ngilu appointed him the party chairman during the period she was the Kitui County boss. They later parted ways towards the 2022 general elections seeing him join Wiper. He has of late been visible in a number of events attended by Kalonzo Musyoka.
