Angry residents block road demanding to identify suspects

The incident, which unfolded at the heart of shopping centre, saw tensions escalate as locals demanded custody of the accused to identify them personally.

The locals said they wanted to intercept the vehicle ferrying the suspects so that they can have a glare of whom they were.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects were nabbed by law enforcement officers along Embu-Makutano road in Kirinyaga county in a swift operation following reports of stolen livestock in Kanyariri.

However, upon learning of the arrests, a group of irate residents barricaded the path of the police vehicle and refused to allow it to proceed. They also lit bonefire.

"The community has had enough of these thefts plaguing our livelihoods. We demand justice, and that starts with us identifying the culprits ourselves." said one of the residents.

Efforts by law enforcement officials to calm the situation proved futile as tensions continued to rise.

With emotions running high, negotiations between the authorities and the locals to unblock the road almost  reached an impasse, further exacerbating the standoff.

As dusk descended on the shopping centre the situation remained unresolved, with both sides unwilling to concede ground.

Police had no option but to lobe teargas cannisters to disperse the angry residents who demanded to see the suspects.

The authorities managed to use an alternative route to save the suspects from the eyes of the locals who were baying for their blood .

COMPASSIONATE AND CONSIDERATE LIVING

We do not become righteous by doing righteous deeds but having been made righteous. We do righteous deeds. We must pass through the darkness to reach the light.
We are made righteous. We did not become righteous by doing righteous deeds.|FILE

The worst part of being okay is that okay is far from being happy. Live your life in such a way that you'll be remembered for your kindness, compassion, fairness, character, benevolence, and a force for good who had much respect for life, in general. It is not living that matters but living rightly. ''Pure Christlike love flowing from true righteousness can change the world.''- Jeffrey R. Holland.

All men's souls are immortal but the souls of the righteous are immortal and divine. Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, leave the rest to God. Question like a child, reason like an adult and write like a sage.

Only courageous hearts can endure the bitterness of truth. All you know is what you think you know, but that isn't always what's real. If your absence doesn't bother them then your presence never mattered to them in the first place.

Some are mature enough that they don’t speak their minds. Some are so mature that they know they are not mature.

Speak with caution. Even if someone forgives harsh words you've spoken, they may be too hurt to ever forget them. Don't leave a legacy of pain and regret of things you never should have said.

Have you arrived at your happy day by day yet, or are you waiting for a happy ending that will never actually arrive? There's no happy ever after only, happy right now!

"We are committed to safeguarding the well-being of our citizens," he affirmed. "Bars found flouting regulations or engaging in the sale of illicit liquor will face immediate closure."

The crackdown comes amid growing concerns over the consumption of substandard and potentially harmful alcohol within the country. Reports of alcohol-related health complications and incidents of intoxication have prompted authorities to take decisive action to curb the illicit trade.

Local residents have welcomed the government's initiative, expressing relief at the prospect of enhanced oversight within the hospitality sector. "It's about time the authorities took a stand against these unscrupulous operators," remarked one resident, who requested anonymity. "The prevalence of illicit liquor has been a longstanding issue, and it's reassuring to see the government taking proactive measures to address it."

In addition to the closure of non-compliant establishments, the county government has vowed to intensify inspections and surveillance to root out illicit liquor distributors. CECM Ndwiga urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities or outlets selling unlicensed alcohol to the relevant authorities.
