A family in Kawala sublocation, Kaliku location in Kitui East, Kitui County is left in shock and disbelief after one of their family members was found dead in a police cell on Sunday April 7 thsi year. The incident took place in the evening hours.
Mr Musya Katheke was alleged to have been causing trouble and drama to his family members the previous day and threatened to kill them, which triggered his arrest on the same date of his suicide.
According to the report that reached the area assistant chief Joshua Ngosi is that a policeman who was in charge of Musya brought him some food for supper on that day, and then the deceased asked for some water. Upon returning with water that the Musya had requested, he found him hanging on the ceiling where he used his pants to take his life.
"He had planned to kill his family and himself, but I got him arrested on Sunday morning before then. He took his life using his trousers in Kaliku police station. His body is preserved in Mutitu subcounty hospital morgue as the investigations are ongoing" said Mr Ngosi, the area Assistant Chief.
