Police identified the deceased as Margaret Kavisa John, 48.

Residents of Kianziani village in Kiomo division in Mwingi Central Sub-County Monday morning woke up to the horrible news that the man had horribly killed his first cousin's wife.

The woman, a renowned businesslady in the area was  attacked  by her in-law cousin on Sunday night and  beheaded before he immediately fled with her head.

"The lady was walking home from her shop when the young man pounced on her near her home and beheaded her thereof with a panga and fled with her head, " said a neighbour who spoke to MWINGI TIMES on condition of anonymity.

According to the source, the young man hid in a nearby homestead before he ran away after he heard people pursuing him.

The man was captured by the locals who trailed him on motorbikes for several  kilometres near Kwa Kyumbo market in Machakos County.
"After being beaten nearly to death by the angry mob, he offered to show them where he had hidden the woman's head" the source  told this publication.  The man however, succumbed to the injures caused by the ruthless beating by the agitated members of the public.

The two bodies  have been taken by police to Mwingi Level IV hospital morgue.

MWINGI TIMES could not immediately establish what was the motive behind the mans decision to kill his  cousin's wife, but a local intimated that the two had previously been involved in a land-related domestic scuffle.
