County partners with NGO to bring water to arid Athi and Voo/Kyamatu

Kitui County Government under the leadership of Governor Dr Julius Makau Malombe is prepared to work closely with development partners to mitigate drought and water problems facing the residents through prompt interventions.

This was said by Kitui Deputy Governor Augustine Wambua Kanani, during opening ceremony of a one-day workshop organized by WELTHUNGERLIFFE (WHH), which is a Germany non-governmental aid agency locally based in Nairobi.

Speaking in that workshop, the project head Mr Nicholas Kimeu confirmed that they had received funds enough to rehabilitate Mbusyani borehole in Athi Ward and Kaluasi borehole in Voo/Kyamatu Ward.

The international NGO will also install the boreholes with solar pumping system, construct 38.2km pipeline extensions, construct community water kiosks and connect water tees along the lines.

In that workshop, it was agreed that the commissioning of Kaluasi borehole will be done on 15th September and Mbusyani borehole on 16th September this year.

Also present in that workshop is the CECM for Agriculture, Water and Livestock Development Emmanuel Kisangau and Director of Water Eng. Mutati among other of county officers.
