Kalonzo not cornered, says Senator Wambua

Kitui senator Enoch Wambua has reiterated his party boss Kalonzo Musyoka’s commitment in vying for the highest seat in the land.

Mr Wambua was addressing journalists at Kitui town moments after be was cleared by the IEBC to defend his seat on a Wiper party ticket. Kitui County Returning Officer Mr Macharia Gichichi awarded the certificate to him.

The first term senator dismissed media reports that Kalonzo had bowed out of presidential race saying that Mr Musyoka was still running unless stated otherwise. “There were media report on the day before yesterday that my party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka had been barred from running the position of the president of the republic of Kenya. That is not true,” he said.

Wambua revealed that Wiper had submitted 2000 supporters’ signatures from 24 counties in Kenya adding that it had collected signatures from 33 of the 47 counties.

May 25 was the deadline to submit signatures for clearances under strict guideless of the electoral body.

Senator Wambua appeared to confirm that there were political hurdles thrown in the way of Wiper party as it fronted its flagbearer. However, the senator assured the party supporters that they will weather the storm.

“I want to make it very clear to all Kenyans that no trick that will stop Wiper from doing what it must do. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has every right like any Kenyan to seek any position; every right to enter into any negotiation with anyone he wants,” he went on.

Mr Wambua said the party was not cornered and it has all its options on the table as it was still consulting on its future.
