He lost an MCA seat after conducting a highly intensive campaign with his fellow OKA principals that went down to the wire.

The IEBC declared Mr Timothy Maneno Sirei as the duly elected MCA of Nguu/Masumba ward in Makueni County. He garnered 2,902 votes which translated to 43 per cent of the votes cast.  UDA candidate Musau Daniel Kivuva Masika came number two with 10 per cent less than the winner (2219 votes).

Maneno enjoyed the support of Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

The worst embarrassment was borne by Mwaiwa Eshio Maundu who emerged the last. He only managed 1,614 votes or 24 per cent of the votes cast.

Voice heard

The residents came out in large numbers to strongly make their voice heard. 60 per cent of registered voters took part in the by election. Usually, in most parts of the country, by elections are marked with low voter turn out but not in Nguu/Masumba.

To underline the high level of awareness in their civic duties, only 48 votes cast were rejected.  The valid votes cast were 6,735. This makes the total votes cast to be 6,783.

Nguu/Masumba ward had 34 polling stations with a total of 11,243 registered voters, according to official election results from the IEBC.
