Independent candidate Timothy Maneno garnered 2,853 votes in the counted votes while UDA’s Daniel Musau had 2,216 votes to his name.  Wiper party candidate was the last with 1,588 votes.

The ward has 34 polling stations and there were 10 remaining stations yet to be counted by 9pm. IEBC is mandated by law to declare the winner.

So far, Timothy Maneno, an independent contestant has gotten more that Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party and William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance.

There was heavy security at Kikumini Boys secondary school which was the tallying centre with police only allowing accredited journalists covering the event to access the premises. The other people allowed to get in and out were IEBC officials.

Speaking to Athiani FM, a local radio station, the reporter said he had seen UDA candidate Musau within the premises but the UDA candidate left shortly after. The other two contestants were not seen.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka had campaigned for Eshio Mwaiwa who was vying using his party. He invited his OKA coprincipals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula to help in campaigning for his candidate.

In a press statement published on Facebook, Wiper party leader's Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Command Centre (SKM) accepted the outcome of the votes.  "We take this early opportunity to congratulate Timothy Maneno on winning the Nguu/Masumba ward seat on an independent ticket", said SKM.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana congratulated Timothy Maneno on winning the hotly contested seat.  He said that the people of Nguu/Masumba upheld democratic ideals  and have spoken in a loud and clear way by electing Hon Timothy S Maneno as their MCA for the remainder of the time left before 2022 general elections.
