Mwingi West MP decries lack of Sporting facilities in Kitui

The MP has urged the national government in collaboration with the county government of Kitui to consider constructing sporting facilities in the county as there is huge untapped sporting talent in the county.

Mr. Nguna made these remarks during the finals of "Nguna Cup" football finals, the biggest tournament in Kitui county which the MP has been running for more than 20 years now. The finals brought together over 30,000 football fans.

The tournament brought together teams drawn from Mwingi Central and Mwingi West constituency. The men's  cup went with Migwayo FC from Mwingi West constituency after beating Eiber FC 1:0, while the female's cup went with Nguni Sirens after beating Kairungu Starlets through penalty shootouts. 

Phoebe Mutemi who is the Kitui county minister in charge of Youth, Culture and Social Services commented MP Nguna for organizing such a big cup, promising more support going forward to boost sports in Kitui.

The CECM pledged that the county government would establish sporting activities across the eight sub counties of Kitui to boost talent development among the youth. 

Former nominated MP Bishop Robert Mutemi on his side lauded MP Nguna for organizing the tournament which has kept Mwingi youths fully engaged during this long vacation, ensuring that they don't engage in crime and other evil activities. He also called for improvement of sports related infrastructure in the county so as to nurture youth talents. 

Harrison Maluki who is the MCA for Migwani and the Kitui Majority Leader urged the national government to consider constructing a modern stadium in Mwingi West constituency where the MP has been so passionate about sports, establishing the best football tournament in Kitui County.
