A 46-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself inside her bedroom at dawn.
Mwingi Central Sub County Police Commander John Mutuma confirmed the incident. He said it occurred at around 5am at Kwamunyanzu village, Kiomo sub location in Mwingi West Sub County.
The Mwingi Central police commander said that the deceased Mrs Jemimah Mwende Kiema was left by her husband Mr Cyrus Kiema Musyoka who had gone to visit his neighbour.
"The deceased's daughter found her mother hanging on the truss and raised alarm. The deceased had been on medication after suffering from mental disorders since August 2021", said police commander Mr Mutuma.
Mwingi police officers on duty visited the scene of crime and removed the body and took it to Mwingi Level Four Hospital Morgue awaiting postmoterm.
The deceased did not leave behind a suicide note as police never recovered any at the crime scene.
