Wambora cleared to vie for Embu Senate seat

 Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP) has cleared Embu Governor Martin Wambora to vie for Embu senatorial seat in the August polls.

This has now set a stage for battle pitting Wambora and his deputy David Kariuki who will be contesting the same seat on UDA ticket.

While addressing the press in Embu town after receiving the certificate Wambora who is also the UMP party leader expressed confidence that he was ready to face his opponents.

"I’m confident that I will win this seat in August polls. I will floor my opponents”, said Wambora.

Wambora who is serving his second and final term as a governor noted that his ambitions to vie for senatorial seat was bound by his wish to have a law that will ensure money reaches the counties in good time.

"We shall pass laws that will protect Devolution and ensure increase of funds to counties," stated Wambora.

He urged his opponents to prepare for hot contest in the next election.

Senate seat

Wambora who is also the Chairman of Council of Governors said his decision to contest for the seat was informed by the push by his supporters who urged him not to retire in politics but instead switch to seek senate seat.

Mr Wambora who is popularly known as "Ciiko" by his supporters and described as 'man with nine lives' also warned some people whom he said were trying to taint his name with fake narrations that he had failed to ensure good health for patients seeking to treatment at Embu Level Five Hospital.

"There some people trying to dump waste from outside in Embu Level Five Hospital in order to bring a bad picture and show that we are not able to ensure good health. We have CCTVs and we have seen what is going on and one person has written statement," revealed Wambora.

Others set to compete with Wambora are Alexander Mundigi who will fly Democratic Party ticket and Njeru Ndwiga who is vying on independent ticket.
