The day was marked by a flurry of activities as UDA and Kenya Kwanza inclined leaders led by Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai made consultation with County Commissioner Erastus Mbui and Governor Julius Malombe.

The president will be in Kitui for a thanks giving prayer service. It will he held at the Kitui Central Primary School.

Malombe recently said although he was elected on a Wiper party ticket, he recognized President Dr William Samoei Ruto as the elected President and was ready to cooperate and work with his administration. He made the remarks recently during a luncheon with Kitui MCAs at a local hotel after he presided over the official opening of the third County Assembly of Kitui.

He said in the spirit of cooperation between his government and the national government, he will always be at hand to receive and welcome Ruto whenever he visits Kitui county as the Head of State.

For the last two months, there has been insecurity in Kitui South as herders from North Eastern region invade local farms and forcefully graze their camels in their forests.

"Forty people lost their lives due to the conflict in a span of two months", said Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai. She noted that the herders have killed many people which she termed as "enough" urging the government to flush out the herders as it did in 2019.
