AFTER Deputy President William Ruto donated Sh1,000,000 to bodaboda riders and women groups, two Makueni County teachers fled with the money.

But a mob chased the two who escaped their wrath by the skin of their teeth, seeking refuge at Kambu police post.

The incident took place on October 25 at night.

Police officers manning Kambu police post were surprised to see the two primary school teachers storm into their reporting desk and go straight to hide from the irate mob.

A police report detailing the incident says, “They took cover behind two surprised police officers manning the desk, pleading with them to protect them from the angry mob that was baying for their blood. The officers who had a difficult time trying to calm down the mob learnt that the two men seeking refuge behind their backs, had allegedly been given a token of Sh1 Million by a politician who was campaigning in the area earlier in the day”.

Apparently, the two primary school teachers were determined to keep the money donated by the UDA party leader.

When the unruly mob became impatient demanding for release of the two in order to kill them, police were forced to call for reinforcement from Mtito Andei police station. The officers arrived immediately and went straight to dispersing the mob.

But angry bodaboda riders who could not come to terms with the loss remained peeping at the goings-on in the Kambu police post from a distance.

The matter is under investigation.

DP William Ruto was in Makueni County on October 25. He donated Sh4 Million to different groups.
