His mother, a resident of Syomikuku village in Mwingi Central Sub- County, Kitui County died on Tuesday according to the official report by the Catholic Diocese of Kitui.

“Sad news reaching our desk is that Priscilla Ngii Musyoka, mother to the late Rev. Fr. John Mulu Musyoka has passed on after a short illness,” statement on the Diocese’s official Facebook page read in part.

It is now a double tragedy for the late priest’s family whose death was a huge blow to both his home diocese as well as the vast North Eastern Kenya region where he served as a priest for long rising to become the parish priest of the Archangel Michael parish in Mandera County.

“He was fondly remembered among the Catholic humanitarian workers in Dadaab Refugee Camp… He would risk his life to drive to the camp to celebrate mass services,” posted Omondi Omundu on Facebook.

Netizens on Tuesday joined the church in condoling with the family of the fallen priest. “It is very sad for the family. May she Rest in Peace,” said the Catholic Diocese of Kitui Education Secretary Fr. Julius Muthamba.
