Cries as crippled woman is locked up in Tseikuru cells

Two renowned servants of God from Tseikuru town are embroiled in a tussle over not one but three female churchgoing faithfuls who were arrested by police on Monday under unclear circumstances.

The trio were to be taken to Kyuso law courts for charging. Among those arrested was Ms Rhoda Nzunga, a lady who is a person living with disability. She could not escape police dragnet but was forced to cells regardless. Her family is demanding justice to be done.

"She is crippled. Her bones cannot sit on a normal chair. I was concerned that police locked her up and did not provide a mattress for her to rest", says her pastor Timothy Kioko.

The two others are Kamwalo Muthui, a primary school teacher and a woman only identified as Beth (Mama Kimuyu).

The tussle is pitting Pastor Timothy Kioko of Jesus Solution Temple on the one hand and Pastor Bernard Munyoki Kavisi of Grace Fellowship Church on the other. He is also the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) boss at Muumoni ward.

Mr Munyoki Peter who goes to Jesus Solution Temple called Mwingi Times revealing that it was a tussle over factions’ control since the two pastors come from the same former religious institution called Zion Global Ministries Africa.

He says that after the three were arrested, it took the effort of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and area MP Paul Nzengu to make phone calls to the regional security chief for their release.

When we reached out to Pastor Kioko, he was crushed in spirit saying he cried the whole night the three women were arrested before their release. "Her mum is a Person Living With Disability. That is why we are so bitter. If you have never seen a man cry, I cried. I cried yesterday night until we got a way to release them".

Police said that they arrested them due to malicious damage of church property. But Pastor Kioko says that that was not true since there is a land issue in question. The case has been there for a year. He says he was told by police that he abused a person who was never produced to him. He was never told what abuse he hurled at the said government official.
