WANJIGI arrested after hours of drama

Wanjigi, who has declared to contest for presidency under ODM ticket was arrested Tuesday evening after nearly 24 hours of drama by police officers and his supporters. 

According to reports by Citizen TV and NTV who covered live as the events unfolded, the Anti-Terror Police Unit, ATPU commandos broke into one of houses at the politicians offices located at Kwacha House in Nairobi. 

Police Officers arrived at Wanjigi's offices yesterday evening forcing him to go to an hiding for more than 20 hours. 

While in the hiding, Jimmy was quoted by one of the national TVs accusing ODM leader Raila Odinga as responsible for woes. 

 However, a warrant of arrest was this afternoon issued by a Nairobi court on him and his wife Irene Nzisa for allegedly being involved in a land fraud case involving his land which hosts Kwacha House. The land is located in Westlands Constituency in Nairobi City County.

The prime property measures 0.3hectares. After his arrest, he was quoted denying involvement in the land fraud.

The Land Fraud Unit in Office of the Director of Public Prosecution has been investigating eight people alleged to be involved in the fraud. They are Mr Wanjigi, his wife Irene Nzisa, Kairu Augustine Thuo, John Nyanjua Njenga, Kaneez Noorani, Mohamed Hussein Noorani, Mohamed Hussanali and Himanshu Velji Dodhia.

Before Mr Wanjigi’s arrest, media and family members were barred from accessing the facility. 

Earlier today, Police threw teargas canisters at the supporters of Wanjigi who were protesting outside the offices.

After his arrest, the businessman was taken to Kamukunji Police Station.
