KALONZO endorsed amidst supremacy contests

THE Lower Eastern region has endorsed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as its leader and presidential flagbearer in the forthcoming August 9 General Elections.

Kalonzo thanked the region for having faith in his leadership.

The endorsement comes hot on the heels of a supremacy contest pitting Ukambani county governors.

On January 10, Mwingi Times covered a meeting of Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana in Machakos town.

They said they will mobilize the counties voter registration as well as charting their own political direction.

Kitui governor Charity Ngilu attended the meeting virtually, casting doubts of her commitment in the push to consolidate Ukambani political future without Kalonzo in the equation.

IEBC will start mass voter registration on January 17. Analysts think it will inform coalition building strategies of politicians and their blocs ahead of this year’s general elections.
