Kalonzo will never deputise Raila again, ally says

Kitui senator Enoch Wambua has affirmed that the Wiper Party won’t allow any situation where Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is forced to support ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Mr. Wambua said that the Wiper Party leadership is determined in ensuring that the name of Mr. Musyoka is on the ballot come 2022 and they won’t settle for anything less.

The remarks by senator Wambua comes few days after a meeting between the former NASA principals and president Uhuru Kenyatta backfired, amid claims that the presidents attempted to compel other principals to support Mr. Odinga as the only presidential candidate who can match his DP William Ruto in 2022 presidential duel.

The Kitui senator who was speaking after attending the consecration ceremony of new Eastern region overseer of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya at Kitui town Full gospel church, Mr. Wambua said that be it on experience or integrity, the Wiper Party leader was up to the task and it was about time that Kenyans try him as their president.

“Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has supported Raila twice as his deputy, he was a deputy at Mwai Kibaki’s government and was a key ally of president Moi. I think the time is ripe for him now to present himself on the ballot for Kenyans to elect him as their president,” said Senator Wambua.

Mr. Wambua said that the Wiper Party won’t allow their party leader to be profiled by anyone but the party would define him as the best presidential candidate that this nation has ever had and he is the only “sure bet” they have for a better future come 2022.

“We won’t allow anyone to profile our party leader but we would define him as the best presidential candidate that this nation has ever had,” added the senator.

He said that Mr. Musyoka was the only leader in the country with over 30 years’ experience in different government positions including being an MP for 5 consecutive terms, being a cabinet minister in various government ministries, as well as serving as a vice president in the Republic of Kenya under president Mwai Kibaki.

Political credentials

“Mr. Musyoka is the only Kenyan leader who currently has the best political credentials to make the best president if elected by Kenyans in 2022 general elections,” pointed out the senator.

The legislator also reiterated that Mr. Musyoka is the only person who negotiates on behalf of the Kamba community at the national level and that the whole of the Lower Eastern region was fully behind him in his quest for the top seat.

The senator who has been very vocal in defending the Wiper party leader said that the only thing they can tolerate from the opposition leader Raila Odinga was his willingness to deputize Mr. Musyoka in 2022 presidential election, and no one should think that the Wiper Party leader was desperate for Mr. Odinga’s support.

“Raila Odinga is free to do whatever he feels right. But let me make it clear that Kalonzo Musyoka won’t ever again be his deputy and that the only way we can work together is if Mr. Odinga to join Kalonzo as his deputy if Mr. Odinga wants to be in government past 2022 elections. Mr. Odinga is therefore free to support whoever he feels like supporting and no one would be desperate for his support,” he said.
