While confirming the incident, Embu East Sub County deputy police commander Monica Mwarania said that all the members were asleep when the fire started.

She said that the three bedroomed house was made up of timber and still the cause of the fire was yet to be established since the house was not connected to electricity.

The sub county police boss noted that bodies of Charles Kariuki 45 and his family members were burnt beyond recognition.

"We received information today morning that there was fire incident at Gichiche sublocation and upon reaching there we found a house that had been gutted by fire. In the house there were seven people who had been burnt beyond recognition. It was father, mother their three children and two grandchildren," said Mwarania.

Neighbours who spoke to MWINGI TIMES said that the fire started at around 4am. Their efforts to contain the fire that had engulfed the wooden three-bedroom house to save the family were futile.

The fire reduced the house into ashes.

They said the incident was traumatizing saying the family lived well with no dispute.

"Why this! The whole family? It is painful," said a man identified as Kariuki.

Police have since launched investigations into the matter to unearth what really happened.

Police will carry out post-mortem to ascertain the cause of the death.

Former Foreign Affairs CS in Uhuru cabinet Ambassador Monica Juma was named an advisor to the national security council.

The Wiper leader said some of CS nominees had integrity issues. He directed Azimio-OKA coalition lawmakers to scrutinize them thoroughly during vetting.

“Some cabinet nominees have serious criminal cases. If I was Ruto, I would withdraw their nomination. We shall direct our MPs to hold approval of those who fall short of chapter six of the Constitution”, said Kalonzo.
