MCA Mwamisi made a Statement request to the Chair health and sanitation committee Bernard Munyasya on Wednesday November 15.

With health being a devolved function, the GTAP MCA is optimistic that County Government of Kitui will provide the required remedy to the sufferings of Mutha residents. The health centres that need improvement are: Mutha Level III hospital, Katyethoka dispensary, Isaa dispensary, Musenge dispensary, Kaluluini dispensary and Kiimani dispensary.

Most of the dispensaries lack staff and are inoperational according to a report posted on the County assembly's Facebook page.

The people's representative in Mutha Ward of Kitui South sought to know the plans that Governor Dr Julius Malombe-led administration has in place to refurbish Mutha Level III hospital to desirable standards.

It also emerged that Mutha Level III hospital lacks an ambulance to serve residents. There is also no mortuary in Mutha Ward. The nearest morgue is located in Mutomo town which is kilometers away.

The MCA said Katyethoka dispensary lacks reliable power supply compromising maternity services for pregnant mothers and new borns.
"What arrangements is the ministry putting in place to have a back up power to alleviate the suffering of pregnant mothers delivering in darkness in the maternity wing at Katyethoka health facility as well as to avoid wastage of drugs and other stuffs as a result of electricity outages?, a perimeter fence , a gate and repair of the falling ceilings at this facility?".
