INTERIOR PS launches counterterrorism training centre in Kanyonyoo

In the war against terrorism, the government has renewed its continued partnership with the United States government. This was revealed by Interior Permanent Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo while speaking during the launch of Regional Counterterrorism Training Centre at the Border Police Unit headquarters in Kanyonyoo, Kitui County.
Interior PS Dr Raymond Omollo at the Border Police Unit headquarters in Kanyonyoo, Kitui County. He said that the governments of Kenya and United States were cooperating in the fight against terrorism to make Kenya and the region safer.

Kenya is a key ally of the US in the war against terrorism both locally and regionally.

The government's prime enemy in the war against violent extremism is the Somalia-based Al Qaeda outfit, Al Shabaab.

The border patrol unit police will be crucial in restoring normalcy in parts of North Eastern and Coast regions which have witnessed attacks from armed militias. They will also be deployed in both rural and urban areas whenever their work arises.

Present during the launch of the state of the art Regional Counterterrorism Training Centre were Deputy Inspector General of  Police Noor Gabow,  Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations Nicholas Kamwende as well as officials from the US Embassy in Nairobi.
