This week, Kitui County is likely to experience moderate rains over most places. However, the weatherman says we will have to wait to the third and forth week for actual onset of the October-December short rains in Kitui.
"The onset is expected to be in the third to forth week of October [15-31] with a likelihood of a dry spell after the onset", said Mr Daniel Mbithi, the Director of Meteorological Services in Kitui County.
Strong south easterly winds of over 25 knots [12.5m/s] are likely to occur, he said.
In a weekly weather advisory sent to MWINGI TIMES, Kenya Meteorological Department forecast shows that the maximum temperature expected during the week will be between 26°C and 37°C. The minimum temperature is expected to oscillate between 16°C and 24°C.
Residents of Kitui County have been advised to consult with respective local agricultural extension officers from the County Government of Kitui.
This weather forecast is valid from October 10 to October 16, 2023.
