The family of David Mathenge could not believe as the riders who accompanied other well wishers entered Kibugu town to deliver the cash to the family.

Elizabeth Marigu, the wife to the deceased said they had lost hope of burying their kin since a series of harambees that they did to raise funds for the hospital bill and the burial "raised almost nothing".

She state that the community reached a point that they gave up since their attempt to raise funds for the last four months bore no fruits.

Marigu said they also printed some cards that they distributed to leaders and other government offices but to their surprise, they got nothing.

The window also said as a family they have suffered immense mental trauma thanking the well wishers for their intervention.

Mary Wambugi, another family member said now they were happy that they will have an opportunity to mourn their kin and accord him a befitting sent off.

Embu County bodaboda chairman and business man Ken Java Mwaniki  who mobilized the bodaboda riders said that it was unfortunate that the body of the deceased had overstayed in the mortuary due to failure by the family and the community to meet the bills for the the hospital and the burial.

Java stated that Mr Mathenge deserved a decent sent off since he lived well with the community saying that is why through the bodaboda sector they saw it important to intervene.

He called on leaders to always consider intervening in such cases since many families which have low income suffer when such tragedies strike.
