It is a relief for Kitui county women groups from Mutomo, Athi and Kauwi wards in Kitui County after the county government through the government of Korea in partnership with UNWOMEN and FAO supplied  water tanks to preserve water for agriculture and agroforestry purposes in those wards.

Several groups from these wards will be getting 170 water tanks, 115 Galla goats and 215 chicks to start a business and protect the environment through smart-climate agriculture program which aims at conserving the environment and food creation.

"The primary objective of this project is to enable groups of women to grow seedlings that can be bought by various individuals and government companies who are interested to do forestry and thus creating income to the citizens. In addition, these Galla goats will help in good livestock farming and chicken will help in poultry productions." said governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe.

"I'm requesting those groups who are going to get these tanks to put them into good use and make maximum use of them by implementing them for betterment of their lives. Take the responsibility of this project and make sure it's working well" the governor added.
