Speaking to journalists in Mwingi town, Mr Campbell Munyambu called upon Wiper party leader Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka to intervene in a recent disagreement between Kitui County Governor Dr Julius Malombe and Mwingi Central MP Dr Gedion Mulyungi.
Mwingi Central MP Dr Gedion Mulyungi has been protesting the removal of Mwingi Level IV Hospital Superintendent Dr Evans Mumo in early July 2023. Dr Mumo is Dr Mulyungi's neighbor in Kalisasi village.
Dr Malombe has since said that Dr Mumo's relocation to Mwingi North Sub County will remain. The Mwingi Central MP wants Dr Mumo returned to his former workplace.
Mr Munyambu said that development at the grassroot level is likely to suffer adversely if the tiff escalates further.
"I am calling on the party leader to, as soon as possible, call the two leaders to a roundtable where respectable party and community leaders would be involved in mediating a truce", he said.
The larger Mwingi professional association leader urged elected leaders to avoid overstepping their mandates in delivery of services to wananchi. This, he said, was possible if the politicians follow the Constitution 2010 which outlines their duties to citizens.
After reelection, Governor Malombe embarked on improving health sector. Mwingi Level IV Hospital benefited from an oxygen plant being installed.
Munyambu urged leaders to minimize friction in service delivery saying that will reduce "unnecessary conflicts" as the county focuses on attaining key development targets since county governments were formed.
