Kitui County minister for Trade and Industry Rose Mutuku has officially closed this year's Agricultural Show and Trade Fair. The three-day event attracted more than 70,000 visitors of diverse backgrounds.

Kitui Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani was among the high profile government officials who attended the closing ceremony held at Ithookwe Showgrounds in Kitui town.
The show was last held in 2017, depicting the need to give local businesses more opportunities to showcase their produce in on regular basis.
The deputy governor said this year's Agricultural Show and Trade Fair resulted in an economic boom for the hotel industry. He added that a Kitui hotelier revealed to him that his rooms were fully booked during the annual event.
"I met a Kitui hotelier who confessed that since Monday this week his hotel has remained booked to capacity. He said he could not take in any more guests. It is an indicator that the show boosted business", said the deputy governor who is also an economist by profession.
Kitui County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture Stephen Kimwele led the team in visiting various exhibition stands in the showground.
Kitui Trade and Industry CECM Rose Mutuku said her ministry had come up with initiatives to support local traders, MSMEs and Cooperatives to advance various value chains that Kitui County has comparative advantage in.
