Street children and youth in Mwingi town have been helpful for us in collection of mango seeds as well as empty milk packets in exchange for money for their upkeep. A 90kgs sack full of mango seeds we buy at 1,000 Kenya shillings which is equivalent to 10 US Dollars. We mutually co-exit.
They have confessed that KELMA FARM has been of great help to them since they don't engage themselves in juvenile delinquency acts any more such as petty theft to earn a living.
Our long term blue print goal about the street children is to re-unite them with their beloved family members or relatives, take them to schools and tertiary institutions such as polytechnics for viable knowledge, skills acquisition and empowerment to be responsible and beneficial citizens to themselves and the larger society. And also offer some of them jobs at Kelma Merchandise and General Suppliers as well as Farm.
