The MCA observed that several months had lapsed with no information on whether the staffers who were implicated in various cases had been found guilty of the accusations and would be fired or were ready to resume duty after being acquitted.

MCA Muturi also wants the outcome of investigations into the conduct of the accused officers disclosed to the County Assembly with those found culpable of any wrongdoing prosecuted while those falsely accused compensated accordingly and reinstated to their respective offices.

The MCA who was speaking at a County Assembly plenary sitting during statements and questions session said the county needed to expedite pending administrative affairs and make progress in the quest to improve service delivery to Embu residents.

The leader at the same time urged the County Executive to explain whether the vacancies left by officers who were promoted to become Members of the County Executive Committee and Chief Officers were filled and the criteria followed to recruit their successors.

Temporary Speaker Phillip Nzangi (Makima) noted that the matter was weighty and required ample time for response. He said a matter that touches on people’s lives needs to be accorded the necessary attention it required.

The matter was referred to the Committee on Administration, Public Service, Devolution and ICT for further inquest. The Committee’s Vice Chairperson Daniel Githinji (Nominated) pledged to table a report for deliberation in the August House within the next 21 days.

Nzangi who chairs the committee dismissed attempts by the statement seeker to have the response time shortened to a week due to legal requirements, but directed that the committee immediately embarks on the matter and ensures that necessary correspondences are dispatched.
