Kitui County Governor Dr Julius Malombe is the new South -Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB) Chairperson.
The three Ukambani governors held an inaugural ordinary summit at Machakos town.
The other governors in attendance were Ms Wavinya Ndeti of Machakos County and Makueni's Mutula Kilonzo Jr.
The governors aim was to strengthen land-based adaptation and resilient green economies. A concept note that will enable assessment for the Green Climate Fund has already been formulated.
The fund will help Kitui, Machakos and Makueni counties fund climate smart and green projects like solar and biogas energies.
The governors thanked previous county chiefs in the region for ensuring SEKEB was alive during the second term of devolution.
"We wish to record our appreciation to the previous Governors and the County Assemblies for ensuring the laws were enacted", said Dr Malombe in the speech he read on behalf of his colleagues Wavinya Ndeti(Machakos) and Mutula Kilonzo Junior (Makueni).
SEKEB is lobbying for inclusion in the plan for the Mega dams that the National Government is planning for the country.
