MUMONI residents in Mwingi North are mourning two deaths of their loved ones after a hired Toyota Probox taxi that was carrying the body of a deceased overturned killing one of the mourners.
They were on their way to a funeral in Katooni village, Tyaa Kamuthale location.
Confirming the incident, Kamuwongo Chief Ms Jane Mwende said the car rolled several times spilling a casket onboard. The incident occurred near Kamuwongo bridge which is located along Mwingi-Kyuso Road.
Speaking to MWINGI TIMES, the administrator said that the driver of the Probox lost control after the front tyre burst. The vehicle rolled several times and rested on its back.
The fate of other mourners was not immediately established since they fled in shock.
