Beekeeping in Mwingi

A newly colonized hive. Farmers entice bees by applying "muvua", a honey product on the edge of the hive or near the door to attract bees as they migrate looking for habitats to settle in. They also seal holes of the hives to keep off honey badgers and snakes who invade the hives making bees migrate from hive leading to drop in honey production. Most local apiary farmers in Mwingi will have plenty of honey harvest soon tentatively late December or early January./MWINGI TIMES
