WE will put Ruto’s government in check-Kalonzo

Wiper party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka assured Azimio-One Kenya-affiliated Kenyans that the coalition was keen on coming up with a Shadow Cabinet in order to properly put Ruto’s government in check.

The Wiper party leader was speaking during the send-off of Francisco Ndusya Matiti who was his close friend and key political ally at Mboru village in Mwingi Central Sub-County.

"Now that Honourable Raila Odinga is back in the country, we shall continue with our plans to form a Shadow Cabinet whose aim is not to undermine the current leadership, but to keep all government ministers in check for better service delivery to Kenyans," said the Mr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kalonzo also lauded the Wiper Party brigade in Ukambani for delivering a maximum number of elective posts, hence making Wiper one of the major parliamentary parties in Kenya.

"Let me laud the Wiper Party brigade from Ukambani for doing an exemplary job. We won the majority of all seats in our regions starting from MCAs to governors, hence making the Wiper Party a parliamentary seat. I'm proud of you," added the Wiper Party leader.

Mwingi Central MP Dr. Gideon Mulyungi who also spoke at the burial called upon President Dr William Ruto to stick to the promises he made to Kenyans, and desist from overtaxing small businesses to raise revenue.

Architect Mulyungi proposed a reduction of taxes from 16 % to 10%. "Mr. President, I was shocked to hear you the other day propose taxation of 'Mama Mbogas' and 'Bodaboda' operators, whom you claimed to protect during campaigns. What you should be considering now is to lower VAT taxation from the current 16% to about 10% in order to make life more bearable to low-income earners," he pointed out.

Great dishonesty

Mulyungi said that during his campaigns, President Ruto praised poor Kenyans and that his government would make life better for them, it was therefore great dishonesty to propose taxation for them.

Kitui Woman Rep Dr Irene Kasalu said that it's now time for the government to work for the electorate since parliament approved all the names proposed by the President as Cabinet Secretaries, hence he had no excuse to deliver his manifesto.

"The President now has no reason not to deliver. We passed his entire Cabinet although we knew some people had serious ethical issues. It's time now we start seeing things happening across the nation," Madam Kasalu said.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua however cast doubt on any possibility of the Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka joining the government, saying that his key role is now to point out the failures of the government so that he might unseat the current government in 2027.

"President Ruto is the one who should be looking for Kalonzo. We have no business to join the current government since we are busy pointing out its failures so that we send it home come 2027 and Kalonzo becomes the President," alluded Mr Wambua.

The Kitui MP said that the Wiper Party was comfortable in opposition and the government ought to be ready for a showdown.
