Mama Teresia was a solution provider, hubby says as wife, sons buried

Just minute to 4pm the bodies of Teresia Mumbe Mulyungi and his two sons Peter and Michael were lowered into the same grave that had three compartments.

Mourners pay their last respects at the grave site of Teresia Mumbe Mulyungi at Mikwa village in Kyuso Ward. The teacher died in a grisly road accident at Mtito Andei on September 25. She was accompanied by her two sons Michael Mumo, aged 4 and Peter Mutai aged one year old. The trio died on the spot after Kinatwa Prestige, a matatu collided head on with an oncoming lorry. The Sunday afternoon accident claimed two more lives.

The funeral service was led by the Executive Secretary to the Kitui Catholic Bishop Joseph Mwongela, Father Edward Mulwa. Fr Mulwa led the more than 12 priests present.

Mwingi North MP Paul Nzengu and former MP John Munuve were among the mourners present.

The widower, Samuel Mulwa said the road accident that cleared his entire family was a huge blow and it will be difficult for him to recover the loss.

In a recorded testimony that was broadcasted to the mourners through the public address, he said his wife was not only humble, caring and understanding but a solution provider to challenges they faced as a family.

The St Augustine Mwingi School where Teresia was teaching before she met her untimely death came in their numbers to pay last respect to one of their own.

The principal Mr Michael Mutie said the late Mumbe was an exceptional performer. The school head said although she had stayed in the school for less than a year, she has left an indelible mark.

He said she was not only a hard worker but a social person who blended well with all and sundry with ease.
