PS calls on universities to review their curriculum

Principal Secretary, State Department of University Education and Research Ambassador Simon Nabukwesi has urged universities to review their curriculum and course contents as so as to give graduates skills that will help them in the employment sector.

In a speech read on his behalf by Nanjakululu Wanambirifuma Deputy Director State Department of University Education and Research during seventh graduation ceremony of University of Embu, the PS said by universities reviewing their curriculum, it will ensure graduates have the required skills in the job market.

Nambukwesi stated that with reign of modern technology universities should embrace innovation and technology to positively impact on the lives of Kenyans through the skills.

He said through research and innovations the universities will ensure there is spread of different technologies across the country thus changing the lives of Kenyans.

"The Ministry of Education appreciates the role of universities in generation of knowledge and necessary technology innovations to spur real sustainable economic development.

Our nation needs a knowledgeable well-educated workforce to promote community growth and development," said Nambukwesi.

The PS said that universities should create a pool of thinkers who are the epicentre of socio-cultural development of the country.
