A man from Tseikuru Ward in Kitui County is in police custody for allegedly slashing his brother on the head and maiming his both hands.
Musyoka Kimwele and his eldest son who we cannot disclose his name because he may be underage are now in police custody.
They are held in Tseikuru police station. Police are investigating the incident.
Philip Mwangangi Kimwele is still being treated at Tseikuru Sub County Hospital. The family says that he will be referred to Kitui Level Four Hospital not Mwingi as earlier reported.
Medics hold that Mwingi Level Four Hospital lacks the required medical equipment for Philip to be attended adequately.
This afternoon, MWINGI TIMES spotted police patrolling the township while keeping vigil as they maintain law and order.
Authorities remain cagey in their interviews with the press.
