Kitui Rural has been one of the areas in the country where election didn't take place in the August 9 General Elections.

In this constituency people didn't vote for the parliamentary seat due to unexpected and unavoidable reasons where the names and the pictures of the candidates who were vying for this seat where found misplaced at South Pokot constituency.

According to IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, this electoral event was addressed by being rescheduled to August 29 this year which took place yesterday at the 157 polling stations in the constituency.

Injuries

Two candidates who were vying for this electoral seat were David Mboni Mwalika of Wiper Democratic Movement and Charles Mutisya Nyamai for UDA party. They had a bruising competition where some of their supporters got some injuries during the campaigns.

Speaking to members of press after the Kitui County Returning Officer Dr.  Macharia Gichichi issued him the certificate at the main tallying centre of SEKU, David thanked all of his supporters for giving him a second chance with more votes than his competitor.

"Thank you so much for voting for me and making me win with many votes. I didn't know I can win with these many votes. I will work equally to make my people happy as a leader." he said.

There was low voter turnout than was expected in every polling station.
