AFTER much introspection and consultations, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has shelved his presidential bid in favour of Raila Odinga.
In a press statement, Mr Musyoka also expressed his support for deputy president designate Ms Martha Karua. Kalonzo has also accepted his nomination as the Chief Minister should Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party form the next government.
The Wiper party leader was speaking at his Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Centre in Karen, Nairobi.
Kalonzo thanked Kanu party leader and Baringo senator Gideon Moi. However, he did not divulge the role Mr Moi played in his quest to run for president.
"After wide consultation with the Party Leadership, the clergy, the professionals, I have decided to accept with humility and appreciate my nomination as the Chief Minister in the Azimio One Kenya, when, and not if, we form government”, said the senior counsel.
Kalonzo had collected 66,000 signatures to run for president in 33 counties.
