Wiper picks economist as Dr Malombe’s deputy

 Former Kitui county governor Dr Julius Makau Malombe has tapped the skills of a Mwingi North banker to help him steer the county to recover from economic slump that has also been witnessed throughout the country.

Covid-19 pandemic has precipitated massive job losses for residents across multiple sectors of the economy.

Dr Malombe has picked Mr Augustine Wambua Kanani as his running mate ahead of the August 9th 2022 general elections.

In a press release seen by MWINGI TIMES, the pioneer governor is keen on consolidating unity of Kitui County by bringing the residents together.

Kanani’s name was forwarded to the IEBC together with his prospective boss to square it out with Governor Charity Ngilu. Ms recently took part in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition deputy presidential interviews.

To underscore the competitiveness of selecting the gubernatorial candidates, the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party revealed that it interviewed 22 candidates “following a rigorous consultative vetting process by an independent panel”.

The banker deputy presidential aspirant has 26 years of working experience as an economist and a senior banker.

Dr Malombe expressed confidence that Mr Kanani was able to deliver on his manifesto to the people of Kitui when voted in.

While accepting the nomination, Mr Kanani said he was grateful for the opportunity to mobilize residents in realizing their aspirations to vote in a Dr Malombe who pundits say has proven record of development-oriented and trusted leadership.
