The former governor questioned Mr Kilonzo’s loyalty to the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party which enjoys massive following in Kitui County.

“There is suspicion that Kiema is being used by other people”, said Kyuma as his followers fondly call him.

Dr Malombe dismissed Kiema as already having dwindling popularity which would be a burden to Wiper Democratic Movement to battle out with the incumbent Ms Charity Ngilu.

“If you have 8 per cent, can you deliver any seat?” continued Dr Malombe.

Kiema has already written to Wiper top leadership threatening to escalate the differences he suffered after Malombe was handed a direct nomination. Now, Kiema says he will go to the Court of Appeal to seek justice. This was after a three-judge tribunal ruled against his case.

Wiper had said that it did scientific polls to determine the most popular candidate. They said that Malombe was handed the ticket because he was leading in Kitui County gubernatorial seat among Wiper candidates.

Veteran Kamba artist Musyoka wa Maiyu used his singing prowess to endorse Malombe at Kafoca area in Kitui town. He said that other contestants should not even try to beat Malombe because his track record was exemplary.
