It was a conversation, not an interview- Kalonzo

Wiper party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka appeared before a panel of Kenyan Eminent Fellows as part of the requirement in seeking to deputize ODM’s Raila Odinga presidential bid.

Mr Musyoka said that the two-hour exercise at Serena Hotel in Nairobi was a useful conversation.

“I have had a very useful two-hour conversation with panellists led by Mheshimiwa Noah Wekesa which was very useful… I believe” Kalonzo told reporters after the interview.

However, he said he was not able to divulge the contents of their conversation to the press. This was due to the fact that he had initially said he will not attend the interview since it would diminish his stature.

Nonetheless, he attended to avoid being locked out due to his failure to honour the invitation to interview.

“The decision to come was my decision because I realized that we did not want to give anybody an excuse whatsoever to say aligomea kuja”, he added.

Prior to today’s appearance for Deputy President’s interview, Mr Musyoka had retreated to his Ukambani and Coastal regions to popularize his bid for the presidency. He had termed the meet-the-people tour as the “real” interview.

On May 10th, an optimistic Kalonzo told the press that he had presented the wananchi’s take on his bid to the panel of eminent personalities led by former Cabinet Minister Dr Wekesa.
