Veteran Media personality Patience Nyange is Narc’s gubernatorial candidate for Taita Taveta county. While announcing her direct ticket nomination by the Charity Ngilu-led party, she pledged to strengthen devolution once elected.
“Not everyone got a direct ticket. Many have shed premium tears”, said a joyful Ms Nyange as she received the nomination certificate with a smile.
In a statement seen by MWINGI TIMES, the Narc gubernatorial candidate said she will prioritize healthcare for the residents which she lamented was both unaffordable and inaccessible currently.
On education standards, she offered to ensure that all learners get bursaries to continue with their studies.
To address the rampant unemployment in the county, Nyange pledged to establish a youth internship programme where they will be offered attachment opportunities.
According to a UNHABITAT report titled Taita Taveta County Sustainable Development Goals Implementation Voluntary Report 2019, poverty rates in Taita Taveta are high with 57.2 per cent of residents being classified as living below one US Dollar a day.
