Narc gave a nod to former Director of Public Participation and Civic Education Mr Peter Mutemi to contest in Kiomo/ Kyethani ward, in Mwingi West.

Mutemi, a former MCA was picked by Ngilu to head the department after he was trounced by incumbent James Musyoka who run on a Wiper ticket in the 2017 elections.

Mutemi was elected as the first area MCA in 2013 on Narc ticket. A vibrant debater on the floor of the first County Assembly, the vocal lawmaker served as a Deputy Leader of Minority and also a member of the powerful Public Investments and Accounts Committee of the Assembly.

The former MCA who is popularly known as Kakaru resigned from the Ngilu's administration on February 9 and announced to seek votes on a Wiper ticket. He would however make a dramatic U-turn which led to him re-joining Narc party.

Re-election

Kakaru is set to square out for the seat with a battery of other contestants among them incumbent Mr. Musyoka alias Katimba who is rumoured to be seeking re-election as an independent candidate after falling out with the Wiper party.

Wiper has picked a newcomer and youthful aspirant Anthony Musyimi popularly known as Kasoli. On the other hand, Deputy President William Ruto's UDA has picked Ms Joyce Miriam who is said to be rapidly gaining popularity among the electorate.

Other candidates are a young Onesimus Kimanzi and Ms Linah Musili who are People Empowerment and Maendeleo Chap Chap parties candidates respectively.

But Kakaru, who is known for simplicity is seen to bank on the development that was achieved during the reign of the pioneer governor Malombe to rally voters to back his bid.
