Various Ward Representatives had in the recent past ditched Jubilee and started courting other parties, but the MCAs are now trooping back; boosting the party’s presence in the Mt. Kenya East region.

According to the leader of majority party Michael Njeru, more than seven Ward Reps out of 20 elective wards had been cleared to defend their seats in the August 9th General Election under the umbrella of the Jubilee party.

The Kithimu MCA added that several of his other counterparts who were yet to decide on their parties of choice would most likely join Jubilee as opposed to many other budding political parties due to its “proven development track record”.

Leadership Structure

He revealed that in the process of realigning its internal leadership structure, the Embu chapter of the Jubilee Party had appointed Mwea MCA as Interim Chairman who is deputised by his Mbeti South colleague Murithi Kiura.

Other MCAs that have declared that they would not be ditching Jubilee for other political parties include John Gichovi (Nginda), Salesio Kimaru (Kyeni South), Patrick Rugendo (Kagaari North) plus Nominated MCAs Bernard Kandia and Sicily Ruguru who is the party’s acting county coordinator.

Speaking at the County Assembly Chambers, Njeru further disclosed that current Kirimari MCA Morris Muchiri aka Collo would also be vying for the Manyatta parliamentary seat on a Jubilee ticket. He also stated that a massive recruitment drive for aspirants and party members had been launched.

The Majority Leader was responding to a question by Nthawa MCA Nathan Mwari on the purported ‘death’ of the Jubilee Party which has the most members at the County Assembly and prided itself for forming the County Government.

Mwari observed that both Governor Martin Wambora and the Majority Leader had since jumped the Jubilee ship and adopted other political parties which they have been marketing as the channels they would be using in the forthcoming polls.

Njeru however sought to confirm that the ruling party; both at the national and county level was Jubilee and affirmed his commitment to spearhead government business until the lapse of his term as MCA and Majority Leader in the August House.
