KIBWANA welcomes Kalonzo’s late entry into Azimio

Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana has welcomed OKA into Azimio coalition but warned them to “respect the early Azimio Birds”.

Prof Kibwana was speaking in his capacity as the chairman of South Eastern Economic Block (SEKEB) which comprises of all the three Ukambani Counties.

“The grand vision is genuine unity to save and prosper Kenya, not to share positions”, said the Makueni county governor.

Already, Kitui governor Charity Ngilu is a top manager in Azimio where she is part of the team appointed by ODM leader Raila Odinga to propel him to State House. She is a member of Raila’s presidential campaign board that has 11 other members.

On December 22 2021, Ngilu said her party the National Rainbow Coalition, Narc will support Azimio and Raila’s presidential bid. She was speaking at the Mombasa Women’s Association Hall chairing a Kamba consultative meeting.

She dismissed One Kenya Alliance (OKA) as unable to rally votes that will win the presidential seat alone.

It remains to be seen how OKA will benefit from their unity bid with Azimio given it lost two principals to Kenya Kwanza coalition that is led by Deputy President William Ruto. Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula and ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi ditched OKA for Kenya Kwanza.

OKA currently comprises of Wiper and Kanu. Its new partners include Narc Kenya which is led by Martha Karua. Former Lungari MP Cyrus Jirongo is also a new OKA principal.
