Mr Musyoka appeared to hit out at three Ukambani governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Dr Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Prof Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) whom he described as self-seekers. “The Wiper Leader who seemed to respond in a veiled manner to the Ukambani Governors says leadership is not for self-seekers but a calling to serve humanity”, read part of press release from Kalonzo’s communication officer Denis Kavisu seen by Mwingi Times.

The former vice president was speaking at Eagles Christian Church International in Nairobi where he called upon the church to take its rightful role in the society of praying and guiding the moral fabric of the society.

Kalonzo said that he ventured into politics because he felt it was a calling to serve humanity. “If it were for self-seeking, then I would not have even tried”, he said.

Maanzoni

Kalonzo’s remarks come hot on the heels of a meeting of the three Ukambani governors who resolved to support ODM leader Raila Odinga. They met local professionals, business community and other eminent leaders supporting Azimio Movement at Maanzoni hotel.

Musyoka is regarded by political pundits as a key coalition partner in the 2022 presidential polls. This is because of the votes he commands.

Others who hold significant following are President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President Dr William Ruto, ODM Leader Raila Odinga and ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi.

Ukambani region has a total of 1,697,003 registered voters.

Uhuru’s vote-rich Mt Kenya region which consists of 10 counties has a total 5,824,020 registered voters. His handshake partner ODM Leader Raila Odinga commands 2,126,989 votes.

DP’s stronghold has around 2,431,439 registered voters. His Kenya Kwanza partner Mudavadi enjoys a following pf 2,592,437 registered voters.

In the past, Kalonzo dismissed the perception that Raila and Ruto were frontrunners in the 2022 presidential race saying that OKA cannot be ruled out just yet.

These votes tabulation is based on the assumption that leaders get full support of the communities they come from.

He lambasted the government for violating the Constitution 2010 by denying churches registration. He told the Attorney General was unfair to the Church.
