Led by County ODM Chairman Moses Wamuuru, the group heaped praises to the former Prime Minister who they termed as selfless, progressive and a transformative leader as he turns 77 and wished him many happy returns.

They also used the occasion to declare their unwavering support for him in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying he was the best bet for Kenyans given his proven track record of leadership.

They dispelled rumours that Raila was not sellable in Mt. Kenya region, saying it was a narrative being peddled by his opponents from the Tanga Tanga faction associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

“A few years ago, it was difficult to sell baba purely because he had not declared interest for the position but things have now changed with his pronouncement of taking another stab at the presidency,” said Wamuuru.

He continued, “Many have been saying Baba can’t climb the Mountain but we are telling them to watch this space because majority of our people have realized those are falsehoods and the ground is fast shifting in his favour.”

Youth leader, Jennifer Mukami, applauded Raila’s agenda particularly with regard to the young people including coming up with better ideas of making it easier for them to do business in the country.

She called on the youth to be vigilant and not allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause violence in the run-up to the general elections later in the year.
