Mr. Maalim, a highly respected administrator in South Eastern Kenya region will now take over as the new Rift Valley top administrator after the previous occupant of the position George Natembeya resigned yesterday to officially join politics.

The fierce Natembeya has declared to vie for the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat. He is expected to square for the position with Kimilili MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa.

Mr. Natembeya resigned to adhere to the Constitutional requirement that requires public officers with intentions to vie for political seats in this year’s elections to resign by February 9th.

Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo has been transferred to Makueni to take over the position left by Maalim.

The outgoing Makueni boss will be remembered for among other things having maintained a cordial working relationship with the county leadership led by governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana.
