KITUI lawyers doubt suicide angle in Prosecutor’s death, offer help in investigations to unearth cause

Kitui County lawyers believe that the late State Counsel Kelvin Gesire did not die of natural causes.

A lifeless body of Kelvin Gesire was found on January 18 morning in his rented house in Kitui town.

The lawyers did not agree with earlier reports that said their colleague took his own life. They urged police to conduct thorough investigations to unravel the cause of death of Kelvin Gesire who was aged 34.

The Kitui legal fraternity has expressed willingness to work with Kelvin’s family to provide technical support to police and the family during investigation of the lawyer’s death.

Preliminary reports from the police officer who recovered body suggested that he did not die of natural causes,” read a signed statement from deceased’s comrades in Kitui lead by Morris Kimuli and Grace Muatha in part.

The lawyers condoled with Kelvin’s family. “Kelvin was one of us. He lived and worked among us and with us. He was firm and yet fair and professional in the execution of his duties. He was personable, easily making friends and keeping them,”, said the lawyers.

Kitui legal team condemned the “pervasive speculation and conjecture on the cause of Kevin’s death.
