Kibwana uneasy as his Deputy Adelina joins UDA

 As the August 9^th General Elections date continues to beckon, political re-alignments have become the norm with numerous aspirants’ hip hopping from one party to another in a hastened bid to secure political vehicles to ride on for the polls. 

Outgoing Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau is the latest prominent figure in Ukambani to jump the ship from Muungano party to the United Democratic Alliance.

On Tuesday morning, the two-term deputy county boss was received by the UDA party leader William Ruto at his official Karen Residence in Nairobi.

“The Hustler Nation is growing bigger and bigger. This morning we welcome Adelina Mwau, the Deputy Governor of Makueni County. Karibu Mama,” read a statement by Dr. Ruto.

However, her unexpected decamping to UDA was received coldly by her boss Prof. Kivutha Kibwana who said that she would walk the journey to the Hustler Nation alone.

“I wish to categorically make it clear, Makueni people have expressed their intention to support #AzimioLaUmoja and will not be hoodwinked by people seeking self-aggrandizement,” Kibwana said.

The law professor who is considering running for Makueni senatorial seat this year however said her deputy governor had served well but was quick to assert that they now part ways. “While I respect her for the good working relations for the last 9 years, her latest move puts our working together on the edge,” he retorted.  

The outgoing deputy governor has already declared interest to run for the seat of county MP commonly referred to as Women Representative seat. It is currently occupied by Wiper Democratic Movement’s Rose Museo who’s on her second term and has declared to run for the gubernatorial seat.

Ms. Mwau unlike many of her colleague deputy governors has exhibited cordial working relations. Many a times she has been spotted in public forums together with her boss while at other times she has represented the governor both with and outside the devolved unit.
